Penyengat Island


Penyengat Island, 6 kilometers away from Tanjung Pinang, can be reached in 15 minutes by sampan boat. The seat of the powerful Bugis descended viceroys of Riau during the 18th century; Penyengat still bears the traces of its illustrious past. Ruins, abandoned for almost 70 years, were recently resorted. The oldest ruler's palace and royal tombs, among them the grave of the book respected Sultan Haji, author of the first Malay language grammar book among the legacies left by the Riau sultanate. How to Get to Tanjung Pinang

From Jakarta, the visitors who wants to visit to Tanjungpinang from Jakarta can choose air transportation wich direct flight or stop by at Pekanbaru and continues by small airplane like Ranai and Matak.
The another alternative is by sea with PELNI as the national shipping company that serves shipping route three times in a week from Tanjung Priok Harbor, Jakarta to Sri Bintan Pura Harbor, Kijang, Bintan Island.

From Singapore, by Ferry services which route Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in Singapore to Sri Bintan Pura International Harbor, Tanjungpinang. Ferry always ready every one hour from and to along a week start from 6 am till 7 pm.

From Johor Bahru, by Ferry services twice a day in a week from Stulang Laut Harbor, Johor to Sri Bintan Pura Harbor, Tanjungpinang.

From Batam by Ferry companies and crossing speed boat from Telaga Punggur Harbor to Sri Bintan Pura Harbor (Tanjungpinang), are operating in every hours regularly start from 6 am to 6 pm each day. It takes time approximately 45 minutes.
